SAT prep guide

SAT prep that starts with your score.

Most SAT prep starts with a book and a guess. Ours starts with a scan: a short, free SAT practice test that shows exactly which skills are costing you points on the 400–1600 scale — then builds the plan to fix them.

Take a free SAT practice test first

Before you buy anything, find out where you stand. The free GoalGap scan is an 8-question SAT diagnostic that takes a few minutes and returns your estimated score range on the real 400–1600 scale, plus the skill gaps behind it.

Want more? The free sample test gives you 20 timed questions drawn from the full SAT bank — reading passages, math and writing — with a scaled score and an explanation for every answer.

How to prep for the SAT

The students who gain the most aren't the ones who do the most questions — they're the ones who do the right questions. That's the whole Lakshya Method:

  1. Scan — a short diagnostic maps your score and your gaps.
  2. Lock — you set a target score and a test date, so every session has a point.
  3. Grind — practice is pulled from a 1,100+ question bank, aimed at your weakest skills first, with written explanations.
  4. Land — full-length mocks and score tracking show you closing on the goal.

When to start SAT prep

Eight to twelve weeks before test day is the sweet spot for most students: long enough to close real skill gaps, short enough to keep urgency. Starting earlier is fine — but start with a diagnostic, not a calendar. If the scan says you're already near your goal, you need weeks, not months.

What's in the SAT question bank

The LakshyaPrep SAT bank holds 1,100+ questions across 29 skills, covering reading and writing passages and the full math domain. Every question has one verified correct answer and a written explanation, and the bank is under expert review. Practice by skill, or let the plan pick for you.

What SAT prep costs here

The scan, the sample test and per-skill practice are free. Basic membership is $149/month for the full question bank, study plan and score tracking. Premium is $299/month and adds four 1:1 tutor sessions every month, with extra session packages if you want more. No contracts — cancel at the end of any paid period.

SAT prep questions, answered

Is the SAT practice test really free?

Yes. The 8-question scan and the 20-question sample test are free and need no card. You get a scaled score estimate and your skill gaps either way.

How is this different from a SAT prep book?

A book gives every student the same pages. The scan finds your specific gaps, and practice is aimed at those skills first — so your hours go where the points are.

Can a tutor help with my SAT prep?

Yes. Premium includes four 1:1 tutor sessions a month, and you can book verified SAT tutors by subject and availability from the tutor directory.

Lock your SAT goal.

Free scan, scaled score, skill gaps — a few minutes, no card.
